Built at the beginning of the 20th century, the resort became, in the 1930s, a modern location, famous for the sapropelic mud and for the salty water of the Techirghiol Lake. As its “sister” - Eforie Nord - it is also situated on the Techirghiol Lake shore, a bit farther South. The tourists who come here can enjoy the tranquility and intimacy of the resort, the beauty of the waterfront, the comfort of the modern hotels but also of the old villas.
A traveler who crosses the resort by car will surely wonder at the sight of the black “apparitions”, who move at will somewhere along the distance lake shore. In fact, it is nothing strange. Here is the “Cold Baths” treatment center where anybody can benefit from treatment with the therapeutic mud, right near the water, in open air.
Directed towards the East, the beaches of the resort are bathed in the sun rays 10-12 hours a day during summer, as everywhere on the Romanian seaside. It is a true delight for the tanning and swimming fans! In addition, the passing towards the water is smooth and the waves are usually very low, which makes the sea accessible to children and those who can not swim.
The resort has also a limestone promontory and a high waterfront, 25-35m above the sea. From here, the beholder has a splendid panorama of two blue immense objects, the dark blue sea and the clear blue sky, which mingle at the horizon. There are also many discos, an open air theater, sport fields and options for practicing water sports. In addition, the resort has a lot of flowers which provide a breathe of fresh air even during the hot summer days and are amazing due to their variety and vivid colors.
