“Metamorphosis” is situated on 26 Mircea Cel Batran Street. The church was built during Turkish ruling between 1865 and 1867 by the request of the greek community. The church is made of bricks, white marble and cedar wood. The icons , paintings and most of the cult objects were brought here from Constantinople by greek merchants.
(11 Titulescu Str) was built between 1935 and 1937 after the pattern of the catholic churches in northern Italy. The church is made out of face brick with roman style influences, specific to the 12th Century – the front of the church’s rosette integrates perfectly with this style. The interior is also built with face brick and because of this the walls don’t need plastering. Patron saint of this church is Saint Anton of Padova.
(1 Callatis Str) was built in 1880 and functioned as a macedonian school until 1940. The belfry and the interior decorations give the building the typical aspect of traditional Macedonian architecture.
(2 Ovidiu Square) is located in the old peninsular area of Constantza and it’s neo-gothic art style reminds of the late 19th Century atmosphere.
(Crangului Str) was built in early 20th Century and represents the main halidom for muslim population in Constantza. Its architectonic style is unique in Dobrudja. The mosque holds the largest oriental carpet of Romania that belonged to the Abdul Hamid Sultan. From the top of the 47 meters tall tower you can see a wonderful panoramic view of the peninsular area of the city.
(Tomis Bvd – peninsular area) was built between 1967 and 1968 under Turkish ruling by the orders of Abdul Azis Sultan and stands out with the originality of the Moorish style architecture that fallows exactly the traditional forms of the muslim’s mosques. The tower is 24 meters tall and the interior still holds signs of oriental decorations.
Situated inside the mountain, well kept from public eye just near Ion Corvin village. History says that this is the place where Martyr Saint Andrew anchoret after arriving in Dobruja around the year 60 A.D. and with the help of his calves carved a cell and a church inside the mountain. Considered the first halidom of Romania, the cave is the place from where Martyr Saint Andrew spread the christianism within the Romanian people. Close by are the water springs that were used to baptize our ancestors. Sanctified in 1942, the cave was decorated and served for numerous services during
World War II. The reactivation of the monastery took place after the Revolution in 1990 when the state recognized the importance of this holly place considered to be a miracle making place.
Is a well known religios place in Dobrudja and is another place where Martyr Saint Andrew preached. The name “Dervent”, which means Prison Camp was given due to the fact that on those places was a roman garrison. The monastery attracts thousands of people due to miracles happening here. History tells us that here were decapitated three of Saint Andrew’s calves and on the execution place grew three miracle making crosses where people come to find relief. Other attraction spots of the monastery are the miracle maker Mother Theresa Icon and a “healing headspring” that has miraculous powers.
